Welcome to the May issue of Health & Wellbeing. At the time of writing, it’s been a year since we went into the first lockdown here in the UK, and you wouldn’t be alone if you’ve been on red-alert ever since. Sometimes we don’t even realise we’re in an anxious state of mind. But there is a quick, easy and free way to reduce stress – simply walking by water can lower blood pressure and calm the mind. I know for me personally, I’m always drawn to the coast and a river walk or seaside stroll can change my mood instantly. And I’m not alone in feeling this way. Our stunning cover star Laura Whitmore reveals how a walk or run can help her gain perspective and make her mind that little bit clearer: “It’s time I get to spend with myself” she tells us.
